Q: A woman started spotting on her normal time of 6 June. This lasted until 15 June. Was clean until 22 June and than proper haidh flow started on 22 June. Lasted until 1 July and starts again to spot on 5 July as per her normal haidh time. Will her normal time be haidh although there was no flow or the actual flow time although it was not her time?

A: Since she has not experienced a clean period for at least 15 days, she will be considered bleeding continuously from 06th June to date. This being the case she should follow her previous habit of Tuhr and Haidh and calculate the days of her haidh.

Q: Is it haram (forbidden) to play cards socially without any gambling involved?

A:
If there is gambling involved then it is Haraam. If there is no gambling involved then it is detestable as it is generally frivolous and time consuming. However, if it leads one to being negligent of Salah and other obligations like obeying one's parents etc or makes when negligent of other responsibilities or if it is associated with any other impermissible activity found then too it must be avoided.

A Muslim must value every moment he is blessed with and use it that would benefit him in some way in terms of this world or the hereafter and avoid every type of futility.

Q: I have a friend that works in administration but recently the company's canteen has fallen under her portfolio so part of her job is to check items in the fridge in that they are expired or not. If expired she must throw it out. Some of those products are meat products that are not halal including pork. What is the ruling when it comes to her job taking into account this was not originally part of her job when she started in the position?

A:
It is not correct for her to check on something that is haraam.

She should try to firstly leave that position and explain her reasons behind it. If this is not possible and they insist that she does that job then she should continue working there until she finds another job, making taubah and Istighfaar, and try her best not to handle haraam products directly.

Q: 1. After Mahr (dowry) has been agreed upon, is it permissble/possible for the wife re-negotiate it? If possible/permissible:
2. Can it be adjusted even though it has been paid in full already.
3. If it has not yet been fully paid, can it be adjusted.
4. Is it permissible for the Husband to state he wishes to increase the Mahr amount even though he has already paid the initially agreed amount in full?
5. Can he adjust it to a higher figure in the case where he has still not completed paying the agreed amount.
6. Is it permissible to stipulate a 'new Mahr' figure when negotiating a reconciliation between a separated couple?

A:
1. The Mahr may not be re-negotiated. However, the wife may waive her right or part of it if she wishes. Similarly, a husband may unilaterally agree to increase the Mahr of his wife. Care should be taken to ensure that in doing so one does not increase the period of when the initial Mahr was payable (if it was not payable on a spot/cash basis) as this may be akin to increasing the amount payable by increasing the period which is akin to interest/

2. If the husband wishes to give any more purely with his discretion without any coercion then it is also permissible.

3. If you are asking about the Mahr that is outstanding then this outstanding Mahr cannot be renegotiated. As explained earlier, if the wife wants she may waive her right entirely or partly.

Q: If lend money to someone who owns a liquor store and you know this person's income is only through the liquor store, is it permissible to lend this person money or if you loaned it to him already, is it permissible to collect money from him?

A:
If he is a Muslim and his only source or main source of income is from this then one should not loan the money.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Q: Person misread compass and faced south instead of north north east for qibla. Found out after salah time expired.  Must he repeat?

A:
If there was no one he could have asked regarding the direction of the Qiblah and he used the compass then the Salah will be valid. There is no need to repeat the Salah.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Q: I would like to know if joining a group like 4 Alliance is Shariah compliant in order to earn some money?

A:
This appears to be a pyramid scheme which are generally objectionable.
