Home Q&A General Cure for Troubling Thoughts

Q: I experience a lot whispers throughout my day. How do I overcome this?

A:
The remedy to whispers lies in ignoring them and not paying attention to them. If this advice is followed then gradually the whispers will disappear. Carry your daily chores and duties. If  you standing in Salaah or reciting the  Noble Quraan then, keep your mind focused on the task that you are carrying out. Inshallah the whispers will go away.

Another way to overcome whispers is to busy oneself in some activity. One can not get them away by simply desiring they go away, so one must occupy oneself and make the dua that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam prescribed:

Du’a for the cure to whispers:

اَللّهُمٌّ اجْعَلْ وَسَاوِسَ قَلبِيْ خَشْيَتَكَ وَذِكْرَكَ وَاجْعَلْ هِمَّتِيْ وَهَوَايَ فِيْمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضى

O Allah! Make Your fear and remembrance the obsession of my heart and divert my will and courage to the performance of good deeds
