There has never been a conflict that generates strange language like the one between Occupying Israel and Palestinians. It is one conflict that gives new meaning to the words and phrases to even the best of language experts.

To have an idea, just consider the following:

Facts on the ground:
Deliberately created illegal ‘permanent structures’ such as settlements in attempts to erase Palestinian history and bring about legitimacy to an illegal occupation which will have to be accepted as a fait accompli.

Two-state solution:
An imagined outcome which claims that Israel will coexist alongside a ‘viable Palestinian state.’ It is an outcome which is now not believed even by those who proclaim it. Thanks to ‘Facts on the ground’!

Peace process: An endless attempt to bring ‘parties’ to the table for a negotiated peace settlement in the course of which the occupier makes ridiculous claims and demands on the other side. The occupier sabotages any approaching resolutions, buying time to continue creating ‘Facts on the ground’!

Final status negotiations: Taken with ‘peace process,’ this proves to be an oxymoron of sorts. How can ‘final status negotiations’ be held when the peace process itself is by design endless? How can they be called negotiations when they are made by unequal parties with one using a superpower to beat another into submission?

Terrorists: Those who have refused to give up their right to resist through armed struggle and have genuinely pointed out that the occupier has no motivation for a peaceful settlement. These terrorists have to be isolated, decimated, cordoned off under siege and their resources have to be frozen and confiscated. Terrorists are never a true voice of their people even if they are popularly elected.

Proximity talks: This is a fresh one coming at a juncture when it becomes apparent that neither the occupying power’s government nor the occupied people’s supposed representative has the legitimacy of making any meaningful deals without any backlash from their respective constituencies.

The parties are supposed to talk through a shuttle mediator without a public ‘face-to-face’ contact. The talks have so far stalled before launch. Thanks to continued creation of ‘Facts on the ground’!

All this holds because this is a futile project in hypocrisy. The recent AIPAC conference (in Washington) as well as other developments in the run up to it, have proved beyond any doubts that the occupier, is determined to do as she wishes.

The murmurings are however getting louder. How can it be that Israel’s interest is more important than America’s? How much longer are we going to ignore the suffering of Palestinians? What price are we going to pay for this unsustainable occupation…?

All praise is due to Allah and may His choicest salutations descend upon our Master and Leader Muhammad Sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam

"We sent aforetime our messengers with clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance so that men may stand forth in Justice." (57:25).

The concept of Justice serves as the edifice of Islam. Justice is the underlying rationale of every law of the Quran, and permeates all Islamic values, since there can be no sense of peace in the absence of justice. In the verse mentioned above the phrase 'Our Messengers' shows that justice has been the goal of all revelation and scriptures sent to humanity. The verse also shows that justice must be measured and implemented by the standards and guidelines set by revelation.

Timeless commitment to Justice:
The timeless commitment of the Quran to the basic standards of justice is found in its declaration:
“And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can change His Words.” (6:115)

The Quranic concept of justice also extends justice to being a personal virtue, and one of the standards of moral excellence that a believer is encouraged to attain as part of his proximity to the Creator.

“…Be just, for it is closest to Allah consciousness…” (5:8)

To render justice is a trust that Allah has conferred on the human being and, like all other trusts, its fulfilment must be guided by a sense of responsibility Thus, the Quran states: “Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due, and when you judge between people, judge with justice…” (4:58)
