Q: I experience a lot whispers throughout my day. How do I overcome this?

A:
The remedy to whispers lies in ignoring them and not paying attention to them. If this advice is followed then gradually the whispers will disappear. Carry your daily chores and duties. If  you standing in Salaah or reciting the  Noble Quraan then, keep your mind focused on the task that you are carrying out. Inshallah the whispers will go away.

Another way to overcome whispers is to busy oneself in some activity. One can not get them away by simply desiring they go away, so one must occupy oneself and make the dua that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam prescribed:

Du’a for the cure to whispers:

اَللّهُمٌّ اجْعَلْ وَسَاوِسَ قَلبِيْ خَشْيَتَكَ وَذِكْرَكَ وَاجْعَلْ هِمَّتِيْ وَهَوَايَ فِيْمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضى

O Allah! Make Your fear and remembrance the obsession of my heart and divert my will and courage to the performance of good deeds

Q: Can I sit and perform Salaah in an aeroplane? Do I need to repeat my Salaah afterwards?

A:
If you are able to stand and face Qibla whilst aboard in an aircraft, then no, it will not be permissible for you to sit and perform Salaah. One should endeavor to ascertain the correct direction of Qibla and find a suitable place on the aircraft and perform Salaah standing and facing towards the Qibla.

As a precautionary measure, it would be preferable that when you reach your destination you repeat your Salaah as there is a difference of opinion amongst the Scholars with regards to whether all the conditions for the validity of Salaah are established whilst aboard in an aircraft.

Alternatively, if you are unable to stand and face Qibla due constrains in space or for any other reason and do not hope to land before the termination of that Salaah time, then yes, it would be permissible to sit in one’s seat and perform Salaah.  Naturally in this instance, it will be necessary to repeat the Salaah when reaching your destination. (Fataawa Mahmoodiya-Farooqiya V7/ 53)

Q: When should one read the after Salaah Adhkaar (Zikrs): after the Fardh or the Sunnan ?

A:
The Sunnah Salaah is linked to the Fardh Salaah in the sense that it has been prescribed to make up for deficiencies in the Fardh Salaah and complete it. Therefore, it should be performed immediately, without delay.

Keeping the above in mind, it is preferable to read the post-Salaah Adhkaar, only after having perrformed the Sunnan Salaah .However, there will be no problem with reading it immediately after the Fardh Salaah. (Raddul Muhtar 1:530)

Q: If one hears an Ayah of Sajdah from an audio recording or on a radio station  – is it necessary to make a Sajdah Tilawah?

A:
Sajdah Tilawah is a Sajdah that one has to perform as an obligatory duty when one reads, recites, or hears, in the Salaah or outside of Salaah, some specific verses containing the words of Sajdah in them. There are 14 such verses in the  Quraan. These are indicated by the word ‘As Sajdah’ shown in the margin.

Keeping the above in mind, Sajda Tilaawah is not necessary if an Aayah of Sajdah is heard from an audio recording or a radio station. However, if the recitation is on the radio is live, then Sajda Tilawah will be necessary.

Q: With the current water crisis, some areas do not have water for prolonged periods of time - are we allowed to make Tayammum?

A: If water is NOT available within a radius of 1, 6 kilometres – then it will be permissible to make Tayammum.

The method of Tayammum is follows:

1)      Make the intention of Tayammum:"O Allah, 1 am making Tayammum in order to purify myself."

2)      Strike both hands on clean earth or dust. Then dust the hands and blow off the excess dust, thereafter rub both the hands over the entire face (as done in Wudhu).

3)      Strike both hands on the ground, blow off the excess dust and rub the left hand over the complete right hand, including the elbow. Do the same for the other hand.

(The areas under rings, bangles, bracelets, etc. should be thoroughly rubbed.)

The Tayammum will expire once one finds water. [Bahisti Zewar Page 88 to 90]
